Finally at the pool!

Sorry my posts haven't been as frequent. I'm having trouble uploading photos.

When we finally get to the pool after breakfast, changing into swimsuits, sunsreen, sandals, getting the trunk packed, getting buckled into the car, getting Moxie into her cage etc. we head to the baby pool. It's enclosed by a fence so they can just wander around freely. The first thing the boys do is check the filter for frogs. The frogs like to take midnight dips and end up stuck in the filters. Sometimes they are alive and sometimes not so much. This day we found five that were still alive and brave Mommy freed them. The boys waved goodbye to them as the hopped into the bushes.
Jack has been wanting to go to the big pool lately so Mommy has to take Drew. He can just stand in the shallow end but not for long and he topples over so he does a lot of playing on the steps. Jack likes to try to join in and play with other kids there. It's so sweet to listen to him introduce himself to the other kids. Most are nice and let him play.

Getting ready to cash it in and go home.

Working boys

Drew disappeared for a few minutes. When I found him, he was in the laundry room sitting in a basket and taking the clothes out of the dryer. Jack of course had to join him when he saw what was going on.
I on the other hand was trying to get them ready to go to the pool. This process takes about an hour. By the time I get their swim diapers and trunks on, chase them (mostly Drew) around the house with the sunscreen making sure they are covered head to toe, shoes and shirts, pack a bag with the essentials, pack the cooler with lunch, put Moxie into her cage, give her some treats, get the kids in their car seats, get the stroller and pool gear into the trunk, and drive to the pool. Not to mention me getting ready myself. The payoff is definitely worth it. They are entertained for hours and always take a good nap upon our return home :)

Sat. night movie and popcorn

While cooking dinner on the grill on Sat. night the boys decided to jump into the kiddie pool fully clothed. They were having fun and not bothering me so I allowed it. When it came time for dinner we just stripped them down and had naked dinner and movie night. Why bother with another outfit so late at night. We watched Up which is a sweet movie. It was my 3rd time watching it and I cried just as much as the first time. If you haven't seen it I highly recommend it.

Backyard Fun

The boys love to play in the kiddie pool in the backyard.

Though I suspect they would be just as happy playing with the hose.

The boys like to go down head first into the water.

Drew likes to lie in the water on his tummy. He does this in the bathtub too. This is a good way to combat with the near 100 degree temps lately. It helps that our backyard is mostly shade all day too.

The boys and the Toy Story obsession

Jack and Drew both LOVE Toy Story and can't get enough of the movies. I bought them Buzz and Woody action figures to play with on the plane ride home from El Paso. They play with them all the time! While watching the original movie the other day, Drew broke down. Buzz finds out that he is only a toy and not a real space ranger and gets very sad. Drew pointed to the TV and said, "Buzz." with tears in his eyes. He then started sobbing. He was sad because Buzz was sad. I had to talk him down. It was heart-breaking and adorable all at the same time.

The other day the boys were fighting over the Buzz and Woody dolls. Drew wanted one of the them so of course Jack just had to have both of them. I said, "Why don't you give Buzz to Drew and you can have Woody." Jack thought about it for a second and then said, "How about I can have Buzz and Woody and Drew can have Woody's hat." Already trying to scam his little brother and me!

Both boys walk around saying, "To infinity, and beyond!" and "Yee-haw!" Drew's come out more like, "fini... yond!" "y-ha"

Mon. July 5th

July 5th we went to the pool for most of the day and then came home for a late dinner. then we went out on the back patio for some fun with sparklers and snap n pops. Jack burned his forhead right away on a sparkler and then didn't want to do them anymore so that was the end of that. Drew really enjoyed throwing the snap n pops as you can see by the devious look on his face.

Jack in typical fashion with his ears plugged. We definitely know he's not deaf!

Glowing in the dark!

Popsicles make everything more fun!

Sun. July 4th

Hey Daddy, give me my glow stick

At home ready for bed, playing with all the glow sticks

I took Jack to see TOY STORY 3 and he loved it. He was also very well behaved and didn't talk a lot during the movie. I'm glad I waited until he was three to take him because his first experience was a good one. A Dad next to us had to leave with his hysterical little girl because it was too scary for her. The neighbors invited us over for a BBQ and a backyard fireworks show. The boys had a blast running around with all the other kids, doing the slip and slide, roasting marshmallows, playig with glow sticks and sparklers.

4th of July weekend Saturday the 3rd

On July third, Nick and I went out to dinner to celebrate our 9th wedding anniversary. We just had a quick dinner though so we could pick up the kids and take them to their first fireworks show. Both enjoyed them though Jack plugged his ears because they were "too loud." Drew was shy about them at first but then really got into them pumping his fist in the air saying, "Boom, boom, boom!" Jack enjoyed running around chasing the glow ball that I made for him.
