Drew news

Drew has finally learned to clap. We aren't sure what took him so long. Before when we would ask him to clap he would just pound on the closest thing to him. Three days ago he sat on the bottom step and then slid off and stood up by himself. I clapped for him and that was it. He did it over and over again clapping each time he finished.
Drew thought Santa was a very interesting. He was a pretty good Santa and spent a lot of time with the kids. It helped that it was a Monday morning at the mall.
Still not sure.

There's the shot
Drew is almost smiling. A very cute elf was tickling Jack and jumping out of the picture at the last minute to get the shot.

Jack talk

Jack and I were passing the nerf football in his room and he threw it so hard that I didn't have time to catch it. It hit the couch to the right of me and bounced off. I said, "Holy Moley, Jack." He thought that was hilarious so every time he threw the ball at me he would say, "Holy Moley." Nick walked in a few minutes later and Jack said, "Daddy, do you know what a Holy Moley is?" Nick said, "No, I don't Jack what's a Holy Moley." Jack answered by winging the football at him hitting him in the chest. "Holy Moley"

Tonight we were eating dinner and Nick told Drew not to spit his milk. Jack said, "Daddy you don't tell Drew what to do." Daddy replied, "I'm the King of this house, I get to tell everyone what to do." Mommy said, "Excuse me?" Jack ever the mimic said, "Excuse me Daddy, look in my eyes, you're not a police officer." Mommy and Daddy about fell out of our chairs laughing. Where does he come up with this stuff?

Mommy's bad memory

Every time Jack says something funny I think, I really need to write these things down. Of course I'm either driving in the car or juggling Drew up the stairs to bed. By the time I actually sit at the computer to write them down I draw a complete blank. Here are the ones that I can remember if I try really hard.

I apparently said something funny in the car while driving to the mall the other day. Jack started laughing really hard and said, "Mommy, you're killing me."

It was the night before Drew's birthday and we had to go to the commissary to pick up the cake. I was running around trying to remember to take what I needed and Jack kept saying, "C'mon Mommy, let's GO." I kept saying, "Just a minute Jack, Mommy is almost ready." He stood by the door and threw his hands in the air and said, "Mommy, you're making me crazy!"

The other night we were on our way up to bed and Jack leaned over the railing to tell Daddy one last story. Daddy was reading and didn't look up right away. Jack noticed he wasn't paying attention and said, "Daddy, look in my eyes, look in my eyes." Something we make Jack do when he isn't listening.

Nick was throwing away a milk container into the trash instead of recycling. I told him, "Don't put that in the trash, rinse it out and recycle it." To which Nick jokingly replied, "Don't tell me what to do." Jack was sitting at the table and said, "Daddy that's back talk, you don't talk back to Mommy." That's right little man ;)

We were at Target last night picking out a birthday gift for his friend David. Jack was having a blast looking at all of the toys. He was pretty sure that Santa was going to get him all of them. Two little boys walked down the aisle and Jack quickly went up to them and told them, "No, don't touch anything!"

I put lights up in Jack's window and Jack said, "Oh look Mommy, Sprinkle lights." I'm guessing he meant twinkle lights but they weren't even blinking.

That's all for now, more the next time my memory kicks in. :)

Fort Ord Burn

Every so often, Fort Ord has a controlled burn. A couple of weeks ago we could see it from our back yard. The entire back yard turned orange.

Little patches of orange breaking through the trees.

Jack is pointing to the big orange cloud covering the sun. It was pretty scary looking if you didn't know what was going on.

Picture Day

We took the kids to get family photos on Fri. We had a lot to take. I wanted the kids individually, the kids together and then the whole family. We sent Drew in first with me and the little bugger would not sit still. The minute you would put him down he would laugh and try to run right out the door. We then traded kids Nick took Drew while I went in with Jack to get his picture taken. Jack was acting as if he was a trained model doing everything the lady asked of him. If only we could get him to stop making a fish face... Then we tried both boys and only got one decent picture. The minute Drew entered the room, Jack became a crazy person, rolling around on the floor, hitting the screen behind him, knocking Drew to the floor etc. We finally got the boys to sit still back to back for a few seconds and the fish face popped up again on Jack. UGH. Then we tried to all get in the pics as a family. I didn't think we even had one good one of all of us but by some miracle we got one with every one's eyes open (Nick and Jack) and everyone smiling. Nick then took the kids on a stroller ride through the mall while I picked out the good ones to order. All-in-all I say it was a success since the kids who were next door taking pics in their pretty Christmas outfits screamed and cried the entire time :)
