Drew's monkey on his back

Drew loves to wear what I call the "leash." He brings it to me and backs up so that I can put it on. He loves things on his back and around his neck. This is his perfect little buddy :)

The floodgates have opened and Drew is trying out new words every day. Some new ones are: bus, duck, bug, hot, bee, boo, toe, more, boot, and I'm sure I'll think of more later.
Drew loves to read books and will get them for me off his book shelf and then back himself up into my lap. Drew's favorite books are Cookie See Cookie Do, Peek-a-boo Elmo, and Where's Elmo. He loves the entire sesame street gang...especially Cookie Monster and Elmo.

Valentine's Day Baking

For Valentine's Day we made heart-shaped Rice Krispie Treats.

Here are Jack and Drew making sure the marshmallows we used we OK.

Mommy and Jack Mixing

Jack adding the Rice Krispies Then tasting...

YUM!!!!!!!!!!

Jack made a couple of car treats too. Here he is eating one.

Drew really wanted up on the that chair. We all know how that would have ended though.

Indoor fun

Jack playing with Daddy's shark teeth.

Hulk

SMASH!!!!!!!!

Jack wearing Daddy's boots.

Drew likes to rock on his rocker in the basement. He's very good at getting on and off all by himself.

Since we have been snowed in we have been trying to entertain ourselves indoors. Giving wagon rides in the basement has become an every day occurence. This pretty much sums up Jack and Drew's relationship. Jack loves Drew to the death and Drew tolerates it. Drew also figured out how to use the wagon to slam dunk.

Blizzard 2010 1&2

Since we have moved in, we have had two blizzards leaving over 30 inches of snow on the ground.

The night it all began :)

The next morning there was snow covering the sliding glass door.

We put Jack to work knocking snow off the bushes so they wouldn't die.

Nick shoveling. To be fair I shoveled too, just no one was there to take a picture of it. ;)

Moxie's tracks on the deck.

View out our closet window. The front of our house covered in snow.

Finally some sunshine!

Nick on his way to shovel out the stairwell to the basement.

This is just how much snow we got!!!!!!!! Our patio table.

Burning some of the papers on a cold day. The snow proved too much for even Moxie to get through.

The last of the boxes and papers!!!!!!!!!!

We are very excited to get rid of the boxes and papers, well Mom and Dad are anyway. We found many trucks and other toys at the bottom of the heap.

Drew decided to take the papers and stuff them into a toy box and wheel them around the house. Why do we actually BUY toys again? ( Don't tell Nick I actually said that ;) Last day they were in the house. I thought the boys would be upset but they took it in stride :)

2nd big snow in Jan.

These are my favorite pics of the second snowfall we got in Jan. We went out to play and build a snowman and met the neighbors. Their daughter Anastasia was really taken with Jack and he with her. He cried when he had to leave her and go inside. I guess we have to set up a play date for them sometime. Night time snowfall
Trees were gorgeous in the morning

Jack building his first snowman

Somehow he ended up a cyclops :)

Drew being Drew

Drew is very good at following directions even though he sometimes doesn't really want to. He is a character that makes us laugh on a daily basis. Here he is very impressed with the sound his shoes are making on the hardwood floors and he's testing Mommy's seriousness about climbing the stairs. Notice Moxie is never far behind.

snow play

We went out to play in the snow while Daddy was at work. Jack loves to throw snowballs and so I let him throw them at Drew, but through the glass. Drew was safe on the inside. Drew would giggle like crazy every time the snowball hit the glass. It was a pretty powdery snow, so the snowballs weren't very hard. Drew is very good at pulling off his gloves and the minute that happens, he wants to go inside.

Jack just learned how to make snow angels. He made about ten of them in the backyard :)

Our first big snow together happened at the end of January. The timing couldn't have been better. We moved here in between the two big blizzards. The only problem was that the kids didn't have boots or mittens :( I thought for sure I could get some on clearance when we got there and they don't exactly sell boots and gloves in Monterey so the boys had to settle for what I could find. Drew inherited Jack's old stuff and he had everything but boots. The gloves were too easy for Drew to pull off though and the minute his hands got wet and cold he was very unhappy. He wasn't' very good at walking in the snow so once the gloves came off and he fell down, they were the first to get wet. Jack learned how to stick his fingers in gloves and can now tell you the name of each finger and where it goes in the glove. His were cloth though ( all I could find at Target in his size) so once they were wet he would take them off and want to get warm.

At least some fun was had by all before the cold and wetness set in.

Drew's 1st big injury

We had only been here a week or two and the kids were getting a little stir crazy. They were used to playing outside in the back yard almost every day in Monterey. So I decided to drive them over to the park in our neighborhood. It was cold and windy, so the boys had to wear their winter coats. When we got there, we had to walk over a little creek to get to the playground. Jack has become obsessed with the idea of going fishing lately. There is a catch and release pond in our neighborhood and his Daddy and Grandpa have promised to take him there when they come for a visit. The minute Jack saw the water he started looking around for a stick. He wanted to go fishing. It was pretty cold and windy and I didn't want him anywhere near the water so it was a big fight to get him to actually continue on to the playground. Drew follows Jack pretty much wherever he goes so I had to get him interested in the playground. I was successful for about five min. but Jack had his mind on fishing and I knew the playground day was a lost cause. So I told Jack to head to the car but knew he would try to sneak to the water on the way back. I was watching Jack while Drew walked in front of me and Drew must have caught his shoe on the pavement and went face first to the ground. He started screaming, I started freaking out because he was bleeding everywhere and Jack was still fighting me on the fishing thing. I finally dragged Jack back to the car kicking and screaming, Drew crying the entire time as well. We got into the car and Jack took one look at Drew and started crying even harder. I somehow got them all buckled in and we took off for home. At home I got Drew cleaned up and this is the picture I took of him after. The next time we go to the park, I'm taking reinforcements.

Drew, say, "Cheese"

This is the face that Drew gives when asked to say "Cheese". Head tilted back, eyes squinched up, and a big toothy grin. He loves wearing things around his neck. He's always putting blankets and towels around his neck. I think a cape might be in order for this little one. He wore my scarf all night after dinner once until I had to take it off for bed. His vocabulary is increasing, he now says, ball ("ba") dog ("da") bubbles ("bu ba") baby ("bebe") peak-a-boo (boo), Drew (only shouts it) two (also shouting), Mama and Dada of course and makes sounds, Ha Ha, and La La. When you ask him if he is ready for bed, he will give you a big fake yawn and lie down on the ground. He knows "up" and "down" and will demonstrate for you by standing and sitting, he can follow most commands that you give him. He loves to pretend to vacuum with Mommy and still plays trucks like a champ.
